Costello Funeral Home - WinchesterPeter M. Lane, age 86, of Arlington, formerly of Winchester, passed away on March 18, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Kimball) Lane.
Born, raised and educated in Arlington, he was a graduate of Arlington High School and Northeastern University. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam era.
When Peter returned from the service, he went to work for Polaroid. He then worked in Human Resources and computer technology for several digital technology companies and retired from Fidelity Investments. It was there that he worked as a content expert on the amendment of the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) of 1938.
In his spare time, Peter enjoyed both saltwater and freshwater fishing and playing tennis on the clay courts in Winchester.
Peter was the dear father of Andrea Marino and her husband Nicholas of Arlington and the late Nancy Lane. He was the cherished grandfather of Alex Brewer and his wife Molly of Syracuse, NY, Amanda Giannone and her husband James of Newtown, CT, Nicholas Marino of Venice, CA, and the great-grandfather of Bella Nancy Giannone. He was also the dear brother of John Lane and his wife Miriam Levine of NH.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Visitation at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., on Friday, May 8, from 10:30-11:30AM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute www.jimmyfund.org.
