Alan Robert MacNeill

Alan Robert MacNeill, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 76, in his hometown of Medford, Massachusetts. Alan, was born on March 17, 1949, in Medford, where he would go on to live a full and vibrant life.

Alan graduated from Arlington High School and soon found his calling in the world of print journalism. His career as a newspaper printer and press room manager spanned several decades, during which time he became a respected figure in the industry. His dedication to his craft and his strong work ethic were evident to all who worked alongside him.

He married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Ryan and Jaimie MacNeill, who in turn gave Alan the joy of being a grandfather to Blake, AJ and William Beurklian, and a great-grandfather to Daryl Beurklian. Alan's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he instilled in them the values of kindness, humor, and generosity.

An avid golfer, Alan could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game he loved. His passion for the ocean was equally strong, and he spent many happy hours by the sea, reveling in its vast beauty. Alan also had a deep appreciation for classic movies and comedy, which reflected his own sense of humor and his ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Music held a special place in Alan's heart, and his eclectic taste and extensive knowledge were admired by all who knew him. Whether it was a classic melody or a contemporary tune, Alan could often be heard sharing interesting facts about a remarkable variety of music.

Alan's friends and family will remember him as a man who was funny, gentle, and generous. His quick wit and warm smile were his hallmarks, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease. Alan's legacy is one of laughter, love, and the countless lives he touched with his kindheartedness.

As we bid farewell to Alan, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
