Thomas Charles Harris
December 18th, 1926 – May 30th, 2025
Born in 1926 in a simple sod house in Nebraska, Tom passed away peacefully at the age of 98 at his home in Arvada, Colorado where he spent most of his adult life. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Margaret, and a proud Father to six children—Steven, Dale, Jan, Glen, Jay, and Keith. Tom was also the Grandfather of nine Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren.
A man of remarkable talent in many areas. Tom was also a gifted tap dancer and athlete, recently earning recognition as one of the top 100 athletes from Denver Public Schools. He was a three-sport letterman at North High School in Denver, Colorado. Tom’s college education was briefly interrupted when he joined the Army in 1945. Upon his return, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Denver University and a master’s in education at Colorado University while he worked. After College he began his teaching career as a 6th-grade teacher and retired as the principal of Harris Park Elementary in Westminster.
Tom was also a dedicated leader at St. Anne Catholic Church, where he served in a volunteer leadership role for 24 years. His passion for fishing and spending time with family defined his life. Known for his great sense of humor and natural leadership, Tom was deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. His presence will be sorely missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and joy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
