Thomas “Tom” Hartman, age 84, of Rothschild, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on December 30, 2025.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 21, 1941, Tom was the son of Eugene and Marie Hartman. He spent many years living in the Chicago area, where he raised his three children, before relocating to Wisconsin.

Tom began his career working for General Motors/GMAC. He later became self-employed in both Illinois and Wisconsin before taking a position with Oneida Bingo & Casino in Green Bay, where he eventually retired.

Tom had a lifelong affection for dogs. His companions included Annie in later years, a family dog, Goldie, and his childhood pet, Rex. Even after he no longer had a dog of his own, Tom enjoyed dog sitting for family members’ pets. He also enjoyed golfing, grilling, fishing—often taking trips to Canada—and gardening, especially tending to his rose bushes, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

Tom loved to travel and, from an early age, enjoyed extended family vacations to Black Lake, Michigan—a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life. In retirement, he continued exploring new places through many cruises to destinations including Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Republic of Panama to see the Panama Canal.

Following retirement, Tom spent 14 years in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where he embraced small-town life. He enjoyed the nearby lakes, tended to his tomato plants, and cherished spending time with Annie. At the time of his passing, Tom was in the process of moving back to Mountain Home to return to the community that made him feel at peace.

Tom was known for his quiet, dry sense of humor and his easy ability to strike up conversations. Those who knew him will remember his friendliness and subtle wit. Tom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Kim) Hartman, Beth Hartman, and Kerry (Bryan) Bloemers; and his grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, and Evan Bloemers. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Caryl Landon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant granddaughter, Alexis Hartman.
