Thomas E. Heather

Thomas Emery Heather, III was born in Dover, Delaware on December 3, 1947, to the late Virginia

Whitmarsh and Thomas E. Heather Jr. He was a lifelong resident of Marydel, Maryland. He graduated in

1965 from North Caroline High School, where he played trombone in the marching band.

Tom, being a product of the 1950s, had a fascination with electronics and broadcasting. He had a small

radio station that he created in Marydel as a teenager. Later his occupation was television repair and

antenna installation. He worked for several local electronics/ television businesses throughout the years

and as technology advanced VHS and other video connected devices and their repair and installation were

included in his list of jobs. A little later, he became a car salesman for Kent County Motors where he

enjoyed talking with people who came into the dealership. Eventually, Tom was employed by Lowe's

and Home Depot as a kitchen designer and appliance salesperson. After his retail career, he got his CDL

license and became a bus driver for Delmarva Community Transit.

Tom enjoyed music, movies, and spending time with his family. He loved conversation and was a wealth

of information about many things, especially his family and Marydel. He was a member of the Marydel

United Methodist Church and played in the bell choir. He also enjoyed Baltimore sports, both the O's and

Ravens.

Tom is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dorenda A. Heather; sons, Thomas E. (Denise) Heather, IV and

Jarret M. (Jenna) Heather; daughter, Beth Hignutt (Kevin); and seven grandchildren, Thomas, Ansley,

Trinity, Ethan Heather, and Shannon, Allison and Riley Hignutt..

Memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E

Lebanon Rd, Dover, DE. The visitation will begin at 10am.
