THOMAS HEIMSATH Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2019.
Thomas George Heimsath passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 9th, 2019, surrounded by close family. He had been preceded in death by his spouse: Marilyn, only 8 days prior and suffered a massive cardiac event only 3 days after her passing. You hear of "broken heart syndrome" in medical facilities and on the news and this is further evidence that it is very real and powerful with 55 years of married life together. Thomas was born the eldest of 7 children on November 14th 1938 to George and Lucile (Stinson) Heimsath, in Aurora, Illinois. Both of his parents and his sister Patricia ("Patty Ann" (Thomas) Gahan) preceded him in death.
Thomas ("King George" as he was known by to family) is survived by two beautiful daughters: Karen (Mike) Field of Noblesville, In and Julie A. Heimsath of Buckeye, Az., three fabulous grandchildren: Allison K Koberstein of Buckeye, Az, John Thomas "Jack" Field, and Daniel M. Field. Surviving siblings: James (Linda) Heimsath of Florida, Mary Mazin of Arizona, Michael Heimsath of Florida, Donna (Roy) Menne of Illinois, and Sue (John) Paliga of Illinois. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Thomas served four years in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed by United States Steel Company for numerous decades and retired from Protec Coating Company in Ohio. He volunteered on councils and offered his services to the church and joined the Knights of Columbus while in Ohio quickly being honored as a 4th Degree Knight.
He absolutely loved to travel especially by ship. He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed several trips to Rome and the Vatican and has a photo mere feet away from Pope Benedict.
His end of life wishes were honored as he designated and he was with family when he drew his last Earthly breath and his first breath in the Kingdom of Heaven.
His legacy will live with his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
There will be a funeral Mass at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Surprise, Arizona on June 26th 2019 at 10:30am along with his wife Marilyn. Attendees may arrive 45 minutes prior to Mass.
Final Burial will be in Illinois as the ashes of both Thomas and Marilyn will be placed together at the Gravesite of George and Lucile Heimsath and Douglas Heimsath. This will take place on September 21st, 2019: appropriately their 56th wedding anniversary.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice of the Valley: 1-800-698-1273

Daddy I miss you so much. You weren't supposed to go. I understand because I wanted to go with mom too. I never wanted these days to come. I know you are happy, you really can't get any closer to God now and that has to top being so close to Pope Benedict. Your chair has been empty and we're out of lettuce and tomatoes. I think You would be proud that I'm not laying in bed every day crying. I'm getting things done and you've seen me cry because you can see everything now. I don't know when I will get to hug you and mom again so it's ok if you hug me on Earth
I love you ❤
