Thomas Hodges Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Darby Funeral Home - Canton on Jan. 9, 2026.
Thomas Harold Hodges, 79, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026. He was born on July 12, 1946, in Rochester, New York, to the late Mary Jane Malick Hodges and Harold Frederick Hodges.

Thomas lived a life marked by quiet strength, devotion, and service to others. He proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and honor. Those who knew Thomas remember him as steady, kind, and loyal-someone who valued family, faith, and country above all else.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Hodges, whom he cherished deeply and with whom he shared many meaningful years.

Thomas is survived by his sisters: Jane Smith (Donald R.) of Canton, Georgia; Mary Colman (Robert) of Trenton, Florida; and Betsy Clark of Jacksonville, Florida. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his presence, wisdom, and gentle spirit.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM January 20, 2026 at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church in Canton, Georgia, with Dr. David Benson officiating. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery, where Thomas will be laid to rest with United States Army honors.

Thomas Harold Hodges will be remembered with gratitude and love by all who knew him, and his legacy of service and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of his family.
