Mr. Thomas Hubert (Papa) Rollins, age 88, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the home of his daughter. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church by Pastor Curtis Laney and Reverend Tim Williams with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Thursday, prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Rollins (Papa) was born November 16, 1935 in Jefferson, SC and was reunited with his soulmate, Lucille Melton Rollins, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was the son of the late Marvin and Annie Bell Rollins. Papa was a former supervisor with Caro Knit for 36 years and was the owner and operator of Family Woodcrafts and Florist in Kershaw for 28 years. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years, where he was a former choir member, deacon, former Sunday School Class teacher, and served on various other committees throughout the years. He was a member of the Macedonia Masonic Lodge and was a captain in the volunteer Jefferson Rescue Squad and Fire Department. He was a medical specialist in the South Carolina National Guard for 7 years. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan and especially enjoyed watching the women’s basketball team. He attended all 3 National Championship games. He also loved watching the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, Papa was also preceded in death by one brother; Lawrence Rollins and one sister; Brenda Jordan.
Survivors include his daughter, Gale (Michael) Lowery of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughters: Caroline (Waylon) Ross and Anna (Cory) Richardson of Myrtle Beach, SC; great grandchildren: Brantley Ross, Landon Ross, and Charlie Richardson of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister: Pat (John Robert) Sullivan of Jefferson, SC; and his special dog: Carter.
