Thomas D. Huddleston

Thomas "Tom" Huddleston, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, aged 95, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, in his hometown of Benton, Arkansas. Born on December 18, 1929, in Bland, Arkansas, he carved a life steeped in dedication, service, and quiet strength.

A man of few words, Tom exemplified the strong silent type, becoming a stalwart figure in the lives of those who knew him. His personality radiated a toughness that is seldom found in today’s world; through the many challenges he faced, he bore his illnesses with remarkable fortitude, seemingly untouched by complaint. His unwavering spirit was a testament to the profound strength and resilience he embraced throughout his life.

Tom's journey began after graduating high school, at which point he answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Army. Between 1951 and 1953, he served his country bravely in the Korean War, fighting for the freedom of others- a calling that would define much of his character. After his time in the military, he transitioned into a 25 year career as a Control Process Operator at Alcoa before retirement.

Beyond the workplace, Tom was a devoted family man. Married for 48 wonderful years to his beloved wife Fay Huddleston, their bond stood as a pillar of strength and stability. He raised a family that included his son Morris (Renee) Huddleston and stepdaughter Amanda (Josh) Richards Parks, to whom he imparted lessons of love and hard work without the need for extensive words. His love for his family was palpable, thriving not in vocal expression but in steadfast presence and quiet acts of kindness. He was blessed with a grandson Kevin (Alisha) Huddleston, step grandson Zander Stephens, along with great-grandchildren Kinley and Kade, two step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, sister Louise Johnson, nieces Jana Gregory and Diane Brazil, as well as nephews Jeff Johnson and David Huddleston; each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Tom had an immense talent for fixing anything that came his way, from the minutiae of household gadgets to the intricacies of cars. This passion for tinkering was an embodiment of his character—solving problems with care and creativity. His deep faith and love for the Lord guided him throughout his life, illuminating the path he walked with grace.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lona Lee Huddleston; his brother Gerald Huddleston; and his cherished step great-grandson Gray Cassidy. Their memories will forever remain entwined with those of Tom, the love and connections they shared serving as a source of comfort and reflection.

To celebrate and honor Tom’s life, a visitation will be held at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, AR, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. He will then be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Alexander at 1:00 PM.

Thomas "Tom" Huddleston will be remembered not only for his enduring contributions as a husband, father, and brother, but also for the quiet strength that marked his life. His legacy will continue to inspire generations, and though he may have said little, in the silence rested a wealth of love, determination, and faith that will echo within the hearts of many.
