Thomas Raymond Hudkins, 70, of Andover, MA, passed away on June 14, 2023, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Born in Summit, NJ, on July 8, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert and Reine (Levesque) Hudkins.
Tom, known as Hud by many, was a proud New Jerseyite, living there for over half his life. He met his wife Judy of 38 years there, who predeceased him in January. In 1996, they moved to Andover, where they raised their three daughters and built a beautiful life together. Tom adored Judy, or Jude, as he would affectionately call her, and she adored her Tommy Bear.
Tom was a man of many interests. He was a fierce competitor and sports fanatic, known for his love of the Yankees, fantasy sports, statistics, and changing rules mid-game to keep things interesting. He relished reminiscing on the adventures he shared with his six brothers and the glory days of the softball team he coached and played on. He loved sitting outside in the rain and had an affinity for soul music, swearing he’d been a bass player in a past life. Above all, Tom loved people and felt it his mission to make them smile.
Tom spent the last 25 years working for Gentle Giant Moving Company, where he started as a Fork Truck Driver and worked his way up to Corporate Warehouse Manager. He cherished the relationships he built there and was proud of the “Spreadsheet Geek” title he carried.
Survivors include his three daughters: Molly Hudkins and wife Jennifer Hudkins of Barrington, NH, Erin Hudkins and partner Chris Brody of Chelmsford, MA, and Kira Hudkins and partner Rory Cochrane of Lowell, MA; two grandchildren: Lily and Enzo Hudkins; six brothers: Bob Hudkins of Rocky Mount, NC, Paul (Lisa) Hudkins of Barkhamstead, CT, Gary (Karen) Hudkins of New Britain, CT, Jeff (Lisa) Hudkins of Flemington, NJ, David (Kathy) Hudkins of Milford, NJ, and Will (Julie) Hudkins of Basking Ridge, NJ; and “sister” Ellen Riley of Gambrills, MD.
His Funeral Service will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Sunday June 25 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
