Edna Marie Litif was born on June 12, 1928 to Frank and Mary Marks who were immigrants from Portugal. Edna was raised in East Boston for most of her younger years. She worked as a cashier at age 13 in Boston and modeled fur coats for I. J. Fox in Boston, as the owners of I. J. Fox thought she was such a beauty. She modeled for free, as being so young, she didn’t know she could have been paid. That started her interest in fashion and throughout her life, even up until she had her massive heart attack at age 95, she was always in fashion-clothes, jewelry, make-up, headbands, scarves. Everything she wore was always matching in different or unusual ways to wear clothing, but always stylish. In fact, others used her talent to help them buy clothes and show them how to wear their clothes. She was truly a “Fashionista!”

She had 2 daughters Donna and Dee Dee, 13 grandchildren, 1 deceased grandson, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Edna loved her family. As soon as she started having grandchildren, they became a huge part of her life. Grandchildren were always at her home. She loved making them all kinds of the foods they loved. She was always making the best fudge and homemade peanut butter cups that were amazing. Eventually, the great-grandchildren came along and visited her often. She knew all 13 grandchildren and all 30 great-grandchildren as well as the 2 great-great grandchildren, knowing all their names and all about what was going on in their lives. She would ask them questions and when they told her what was happening in their life, she remembered it all right up to the end.

In 1956 Edna started studying the Bible and was baptized on January 10, 1959. She knew she had found the truth of the Bible. What didn’t make sense before as to why people suffer, now made sense, because she now knew that we don’t suffer because it’s God’s will for this to happen, but we suffer from the imperfection from our first parents, Adam and Eve. We inherited sin and death from them, but Jesus’ sacrifice gives us all the chance to live forever on a Paradise earth with none of the bad things we see today. During Edna’s whole life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she excelled at talking informally to anyone, anywhere, at any time about her beliefs, and she had a way of warming up to people so that most listened to her, people that might not have listened to someone else. She just drew them in by the interest she showed in them. She talked about her beliefs to several nurses even very recently. She wants everyone to know that she will be back here on a beautiful Paradise earth, along with all of her loved ones who have passed away. They will be resurrected back to life never to die again. That is her guarantee that she wants all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and all of her dear friends to embrace and learn about, because it’s the truth in the Bible that Jehovah God offers to everyone. In the meantime, Jehovah will keep her tucked safely in his memory. We can’t wait to see Edna again!
