Thomas Hunter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home, Inc. - Crossett on Feb. 16, 2026.
Thomas "Tommy" Crowe Hunter, Jr., age 64 of Crossett, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, February 15th while surrounded by his family. Tommy was born on May 18, 1961 to Tom Hunter and Patricia Grimes Hunter. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett.

Tommy looked forward to church each week where he attended the Allen / Richardson Sunday School class. Tommy made sure he was part of every event he could attend at church. He especially looked forward to the annual wild game supper each year.

Tommy graduated from Crossett High School in 1980. He loved his classmates and looked forward to the reunions each time. He retired from Brookshire's Grocery where he worked for many years. If you shopped at Brookshires, you would hear him greet you and most times call you by name when you entered the store. He knew pretty much everyone in town. If you were lucky enough, you might get a story about his family, his bowling or a football game he had seen. Tommy always had a story.

Tommy was an avid bowler. He bowled in league bowling on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week and was quite good. In 1980, Tommy went to Baton Rouge for the Special Olympics and won the Silver Medallion Award for his bowling.

Tommy is survived by his sister and brother in law, Felecia and Michael Outlaw, his nephew, Patric Aaron Outlaw, his aunt and uncle, Kaye and Lynn Stanfield, and many cousins, family members and friends.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his great grandmother, Rosa Lee Grimes, his nephew, Michael Hunter Outlaw, and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18th from 5pm to 7pm at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Service will be on Thursday, February 19th at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Brother Phillip Slaughter officiating. Burial is in Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home. Pallbearers are John Strong, Wes McDougald, Matt Cantley, John Brooks, John Johnson and Gary Fife. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of Allen / Richardson Sunday School Class.

We were saddened by the news of Tommy's passing. He was a bright spot when my mother was at the Pillars, greeting everyone with a friendly smile! I saw him recently at Stonegate, still friendly and smiling! Love and Prayers for his family, he will be missed by many!
