Thomas Jones Obituary
A lifelong resident of Scranton, he was the son of the late Stanley G. and Jeraldine Houston Jones. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School's Class of 1949. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He also served in the Navy Reserves for a short time in 1950. Prior to retiring he was the owner of Jones Brothers Kitchen Remodeling in West Scranton and also was a sheet metal worker at Tobyhanna Army Depot for 20 years.
Tom was a member of the VFW Post 5207 in Daleville, the Scranton UKA Vets, the Taurus Club and a member and loyal volunteer at the West Side Senior Center for more than 20 years. He was a regular at Kilcoyne's Tavern in West Scranton and a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and a favorite past time was walking at McDade Park. He had a sharp memory and was a great story teller. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are sons, Thomas (Battalion chief at the Jersey City Fire Department) and wife Denise and Douglas Seton Kelly and a daughter, Catherine Fallon and husband Mark. A grandson, Christopher Thomas Jones, all of New Jersey. A niece, Kimberly and a nephew Robert.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Anne Jones and Jeanne C. Jones and brothers, Stanley H. Jones and Robert G. Jones, Sr. A niece, Dale Ann.
The funeral will be Tuesday from Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton with a service at 9:00am by the Rev. Rebecca Tanner in the funeral home.
Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
