Thomas Paul Jones, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 9, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts, Thomas was the beloved son of the late Robert and Catherine Jones.
Thomas's life was marked by devotion to his family. He was the loving husband of Maureen Jones of Quincy, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Thomas's world. He was the proud father of Timothy Jones and his wife Michelle Albert of Somerville, Caroline Jones of Brockton, and Jeffrey Jones and his wife Kelly of Long Island, New York. His role as a father was only surpassed by the joy he took in being a Papa to his three grandchildren, Zoe, Ryan, and Connor.
Thomas was a brother and friend to many. He is survived by his siblings, Stephen Jones of Boston and Margie Jones of Yarmouth. He was predeceased by his brothers, J. David Jones, Robert Jones, and Richard Jones. He was a loving brother-in-law to Thomas Kelly and his wife Peggy of South Boston. Thomas's warmth, generosity, and humor also extended to his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thomas proudly served his country as a radio operator in the United States Air Force. Shortly after, he began his professional life at New England Telephone while earning his associates degree from Newbury College. Thomas's work ethic earned him a well-deserved retirement from Verizon after three decades.
Thomas's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was a dedicated fan of the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots, attending Super Bowl XXXI in 1997. He loved music, movies and history and could often be found with a book in hand.
In addition to his family and interests, Thomas was a friend to animals, a dog dad to the late Lady and Andy, whose companionship brought him great comfort and happiness.
