Thomas Michael Kauffmann

Kauffmann - Thomas Michael Kauffmann passed away on August 1, 2024. Tom joined the United States Navy in August of 1975. He served until being honorably discharged on September 30, 1995. Tom worked as an Aviation Ordnanceman (AO). His duty stations included HS-1, HS-7 in Jacksonville, Florida Sere School/FASO in North Island CA., VP-31 in Moffett Field, California. He would return to Jacksonville with HS-7. AIMD, HS-11, VFA-106, USS Saratoga, VP-30 and finish his long and distinguished 20-year career with VFA-87. During his time on active duty, he received Navy Unit Commendation (2), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon (4), Navy Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbons (5), Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, and a National Defense Medal. After Tom retired from the military he owned and operated a Landscaping business for nearly 20 years.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ethel Kauffmann. Tom was born on December 5, 1957, in Queens, New York. He grew up on Long Island in New York. Tom is survived by his wife, Carol Kauffmann; children, Michael, Kayla and Travis; and grandchildren, Ethan, Emily, Skyler, Wyatt, Axel, Chase, Brooklynn, Sophia and Zack. Tom is also survived by his brothers, Dennis and Ken Kauffmann.

A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 11:30 am at Nassau Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
