Thomas Nicholas Lasky, known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on July 26, 1950, in Passaic, New Jersey, Tom was a man whose warmth and humor brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Mary (nee Ferrara), with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. He was a devoted father to his son, Nicholas Thomas Lasky, and his daughter, Jacqueline Jones, married to Thomas (TJ) Jones. His joy was multiplied with the birth of his granddaughter, Harper Jones, who was the apple of his eye. He also leaves behind his brother, David Lasky and his wife, Melodee, and was a cherished brother-in-law to Patrick Ferrara and his wife, Sharon. Though his brother Richard Lasky predeceased him, Tom's memory will be kept alive through the many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A proud graduate of Clifton High School, Tom's work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career. He was employed for fifteen years with Crown Roll Leaf, Inc. of Paterson, and before that, he contributed his talents to the Kalama Chemical Plant in Garfield. His professional life was marked by loyalty and a commitment to excellence.
Tom's passion for sports was unparalleled. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a lifelong supporter of the New York Jets, New York Mets, and the Brooklyn Nets. His competitive spirit shone through in his participation role in his fantasy football league, where he was known for his strategic roster moves and friendly banter.
Those who knew Tom would describe him as a fun-loving and friendly man who was always the life of the party. He was a man who could light up a room with his humor and whose presence was a source of comfort and joy. He had the rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life, making each person feel valued and heard.
Tom's life will be celebrated in the hearts of his family and friends, who will continue to honor his memory by living out the values he embodied. His spirit, characterized by kindness, compassion, and a zest for life, will forever be a guiding light for those he has left behind.
