Thomas Andrew Leonard, 55, of Freeport, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio, following a 2-month battle with cancer. Born February 13, 1969 in Monroe, Connecticut, he was a son of Robert Andrew Leonard who resides in Virginia and the late Lillian Margaret (Reinhold) Leonard.
Tom grew up in Monroe where he was a 1987 graduate of Masuk High School before attending Sacred Heart College. He spent most of his career as a Union Carpenter with Local #69. Tom enjoyed a myriad of outdoor pursuits including fishing, boating, and camping whenever he had the chance. He also loved playing his guitar. Most of all, Tom will be remembered for his outgoing and generous nature as he was that rare individual who would actually get involved and help anyone he saw in need, even if he'd never met them.
On June 13, 1998, Tom married Donna Jean (Villwock) Leonard who survives him at their home. He is also survived by children, Ashlie (Cory Beatty) Lillie, John Leonard, Drew Leonard, and Lillian Leonard; granddaughters, Chloe and Isabelle; sisters, Barbara Leonard and Christine (Wayne) Mears; brother, Bill (Toni) Leonard; nieces, Jessie Miller, Meghan Miller, and Tori Leonard; sisters- and brother-in-law, Danes Villwock, David Lillie, Diana Beatty, Darlene Wharton, and Debbie (Dean) Kaneko; and numerous nieces and nephews on his wife's side of the family, as well as his father. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a nephew, Alex Leonard, father-in-law, John Villwock, and brother-in-law, David Beatty Sr.
According to Tom's wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. A celebration of his life will be held on a future date, and this website will be updated when details are confirmed.
