Thomas Lowe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home - Hagerstown on Aug. 20, 2025.
Thomas Eugene Lowe, 81, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Known affectionately as Tom, he was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love and loyalty touched all who knew him.

Born on July 13, 1944, in Waynesboro, PA, Tom was the son of the late William Reid Lowe and Josephine Marguerite (Zimmerman) Lowe. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol Ann (Hoffman) Lowe.

A graduate of North Hagerstown High School, Tom proudly served in the United States Navy, where he worked as a cook aboard several ships. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to Mack Truck, retiring in 2001 as a packaging engineer.

In his younger years, Tom enjoyed archery, bowling, and golf. In retirement, he remained active and engaged-participating in high school alumni events, cheering on his children and grandchildren in their pursuits, and walking with the ARC Rec Walkers program, where he was honored for logging over 8,494 miles. He was also a passionate sports fan, especially of the Washington Nationals.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Shannon Kay McKinney (Daniel Eugene); his son, Scott Thomas Lowe (Lee Ann); grandchildren Dalton, Ian, Daniel, Morgan Dunnavant (Ryan), and Aidan Lowe; great-granddaughters Tate and Collins Dunnavant; and his brother, Charles "Chick" Lowe (Carol).

He was also preceded in death by his siblings Don Lowe, Bill Lowe, and Kay Albright.

Tom will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering support, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him
