Thomas J. Lutzow

Thomas J. Lutzow, age 78, of Little Chute, Wisconsin, passed peacefully and went home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 29th, at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born on July 2nd, 1947, in Kaukauna, WI to Stanley and Helen Jean Lutzow, Tom lived a life rich with love, purpose, and quiet heroism. He graduated from Kaukauna High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, where he spent several years stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, Tom married the love of his life, MaryKay, and they shared 55 beautiful years of marriage.

Tom and MaryKay built a family rooted in unconditional love. He is survived by his devoted wife, MaryKay Lutzow; his children Nora (Randy) Baier, Brian (Shannon) Lutzow, and Leah (Daniel) Cáceres Lutzow; grandchildren Tyler, Taylor, and Taite Baier, and Miah, Andres, and Nico Cáceres Lutzow; and great-grandchildren Dominic, Xaiden, and Penelope Baier. He is also survived by his brother, David Lutzow.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Helen Jean Lutzow, his beloved son Kevin Thomas Lutzow, and his great-grandson, Finley Baier.

Tom's greatest legacy lies not only in the family he raised but in the countless lives he touched as a foster parent for over 30 years. He was a steady, compassionate presence-offering love, guidance, and a safe haven to those who needed it most. He truly changed lives through his kindness and unwavering support.

Professionally, Tom began his career as a welder, a trade he practiced with great pride. But his most cherished role came later, when he embraced the title of "Domestic Engineer." At home, he found his greatest joy-caring for his children, foster children, and beloved dogs, who were never far from his side.

Tom was a man of many interests and quiet passions. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars-restoring, collecting, and proudly showing them. A lifelong fisherman, some of his most treasured moments were spent casting a line alongside his grandchildren, sharing stories and laughter by the water. Tom also had a curious spirit and a love for exploring new places; he especially cherished his travels to Colorado, Mexico, and Colombia. No matter where he went, he carried with him a calm presence, a warm laugh, and a sense of humor that could light up any room.

To know Tom was to know patience, kindness, and joy. He was easygoing, good-natured, and endlessly witty. He didn't just tell jokes-he lived with a laughter that echoes in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

A memorial service honoring Tom's life will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with a service and meal to follow.

Tom's life was a quiet testament to the power of love, dedication, and the enduring strength of family-in all its forms. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
