Thomas William Lynn Sr.

Thomas William Lynn, Sr., 78, of Bluemont, VA, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 6, 1947, son to the late William P. Lynn and Lorraine Lynn. Tom married Shirley George on April 13, 1968. Together they had a son, Thomas William Lynn, Jr.

He grew up in Western Loudoun County. Tom was a baseball, football, and track and field star. He scored the first touchdown ever for Loudoun Valley High School and still holds a track record with his relay team. He was inducted in the Loudoun Valley High School Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements. Tom and his father were business owners of Lynn Furniture in Purcellville, VA where they worked together for many years. After his father's death, he opened Loudoun Valley Floors also in Purcellville where he worked for many years before selling the business. One of Tom's joys in life was his love of music. He loved to play guitar and sing with his band in high school, and over the years was known to get on stage with any live band that would play a song he knew. He also loved living peacefully on the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bluemont, Virginia. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, picking morel mushrooms and spending time on the Shenandoah river floating and canoeing with his friends and family. Tom loved his family and looked forward to making memories during their annual beach trips.

Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley, their son Will his wife Kim, two grandchildren, Julia and Nicholas, and his sister, Suzie.

The family will receive friends at Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM, and the service will be at 12:00 PM. Graveside will be at Ebenzer Cemetary in Airmon, VA afterward.

Pallbearers will be Merch McDonald, Paul Roxenberg, Bird Humphery, Brian Keesling, Larry Dodson, and Steve Stuart.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Hank Legner and Jim Marcum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Bluemont, Virginia.

He will be missed by family and friends.
