Thomas Francis Mento (Tommy) passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Linda Lammey Mento, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born on October 7, 1946 in West Chester, Tommy was the son of the late James F. Mento Sr. and Mary Serafino Mento.
Tommy graduated from Downingtown High School, class of 1965. He went directly to work at the Downingtown National Bank. Tommy was drafted into the Army, during the Vietnam War. After several months in the service, he was honorably discharged because of asthma.
Tommy continued his career at the bank, rising from a bookkeeper to Executive Vice President. Tommy took courses through the Bucks County Community College and at Bucknell University. He worked for Downingtown National Bank for 33 years. He was fair, knowledgeable and well loved by his customers.
Tommy loved to fish and was a past president of the Cornog Trout Club. He was proud of being able to help provide an environment where members could catch fish, while spending time with friends and family. Tommy also loved to go to the shore in the summer. He and Linda were fortunate to be able to spend many vacations in Ocean City New Jersey with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Tommy is survived by his brother James F. Mento Jr. (Mary Jane); his brother Andrew J. Mento (Marion); his sister Jennifer L. Mento; his brother-in-law Raymond F. Szafran, Sr.; his sister-in-law Rona Mento, and his sister-in-law Sandy Lammey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his brother Peter J. Mento, his sister Agatha Mento Szafran, and his sister-in-law Barbara J. Lammey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Joseph RC Church, 322 Manor Avenue,
Downingtown, PA 19335. Friends and family may call from 9:45 to 10:45 at the church. Interment will follow the Mass at Hopewell United Methodist Cemetery, 852 Hopewell Road,
Downingtown, PA 19335.
