Thomas Miesner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Oct. 1, 2025.
Thomas H. "Tom" Miesner, 81, of Louisville, passed away on September 9, 2025.
Tom was born in 1944 to Herman A. and Ellen (Epperson) Miesner. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifelong member. Tom retired from General Electric in 1998 after 34 years of service.
In 1966, Tom married the love of his life, Frances Ellison. Together they shared 59 years of marriage and, in 1971, welcomed their only child, Rusty.
During retirement, Tom stayed active and devoted his time to serving others. He was Chairman of the Church Maintenance Board, a driver and volunteer for the Food Pantry, a faithful choir member, and took great pride in caring for his yard. He also enjoyed many rounds of golf with his GE friends.
Tom was also a die-hard University of Louisville sports fan. Whether it was football, basketball, or any other Cardinal game, he loved cheering on his team with family and friends, proudly wearing his red and black.
Above all, Tom's greatest joy was his family-his beloved wife, his son and daughter-in-law, his three grandsons, his brothers and sisters, and his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Tom leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Frances (Fran) Miesner; his son, Rusty Miesner (Dawn); grandsons Noah, Parker, and Bailey Miesner; his brother, Herman Miesner; and his sisters, Ellen Stice and Judy Stuenkel (David). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman A. and Ellen Miesner; his brother, Paul Miesner Sr.; and his sister, Carole Shramovich.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, at the Ratterman and Sons funeral home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 20, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3640 River Park Drive, Louisville, KY 40211, from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at the same location.
