Thomas Edwin Mimms, Jr., 57, husband of Tonya Johnson Mimms, died Monday, October 6, 2025, at his home after an extended illness.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Thomas Edwin Mimms, Sr. and Emily Carol Mason Mimms.
Mr. Mimms was a retired Environmental Analyst with the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control for 29 years. He was a former Park Ranger for the State of South Carolina.
Surviving are his wife; a stepson, Tripp Baker (Kelly); a stepdaughter, Brandlyn Kakadelis; five grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as "Granddaddy", Knox Baker, River Baker, Olivia Kakadelis, Ryan Kakadelis, and Natalie Kakadelis.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Greg Pressley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon prior to the service at the church.
