Thomas Albert Myers

Thomas A. Myers, 81, of Fairmont, passed away on November 28, 2024, at United Hospital Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 20, 1943, in Rowlesburg, a son of the late James A. and Thestle M. (Taylor) Myers.
In his younger years, Tom was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed camping. Later in life, he enjoyed being an active member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
He graduated from East Fairmont High School. He worked at the Times-West Virginian, starting as a carrier at only 9 years old. Following, he worked at Firestone in Akron, OH until he joined the U.S. Air Force, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his time in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to the Times-West Virginian. Due to modernization, his job at the newspaper ended, which led him to his career at Alcan (Novelis) Aluminum where he retired after 25 years.
He is survived by his daughter Kellie (Ralph) Scumaci & granddaughter Taylor, of Morgantown; stepdaughter Betsy Dickerson & step-grandchildren Kaycee and Carson, of VA; sister Patricia Myers, of OH; and brother-in-law Dave (Juley) Kime, of NY. Also survived by his nephew Mike (Linda) Cline & son Michael, of NC; and two nieces: Cheryl (John) Apazeller & daughters Beth (Bruce) and their child Otto and Sara of OH; and Misty (Kenneth) Rogers & children Makenna and Hunter, of Mannington; as well as a long list of cousins.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Myers; brothers: Harold, William, and Gerald Myers; sisters: Loraine Tetrick, Catherine (Kenneth) Cline, and Carol Grimes; and nephews: David Cline and Robert Tetrick.
Family and friends can pay their respects at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Funeral services will be held at Carpenter and Ford at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, with Pastor Bob Shaw as officiant. Burial will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard and assisted by the US Airforce.
