Thomas Michael Nannen, born on November 19, 1981, in Humble, Texas, to Cindy Muriel Thornton and Jeffrey Alan Nannen, was called to his eternal home with our Lord on July 28, 2025, at the age of 43, while his loving wife watched over him at his bedside. He is survived by his wife, Iris H. Nannen, and their two sons, Jude Axel Nannen and Avery Cruz Nannen. He was a loving stepfather to Iris's two children, Corryne and Julian Tidwell, raising them as his own since they were ten and five years old.
A passionate lover of music, Thomas, was a self-taught guitarist who began playing at the age of 14. His love for music led him to participate in church music ministries wherever he lived. In his early twenties, he interned at a recording studio in Arizona, where he connected with various musicians and honed his craft. Throughout his life, Thomas traveled extensively before settling in
San Antonio, Texas, where he found both his home and his wife.
Professionally, Thomas built a successful career in the self-storage industry, eventually becoming a District Manager in San Antonio and later a Regional Manager overseeing operations in San Antonio, Austin, and Louisiana. He was known for his fair leadership and commitment to his work. In his free time, Thomas enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was fixing cars, tinkering with his guitars and music equipment, or tackling home projects. There wasn't anything that Thomas could not do. He could quickly learn to play almost any instrument he picked up and figured out how to rebuild a car engine just by watching a YouTube video.
In the spring of 2024, Thomas felt a profound calling to Catholicism, after many years of going to church with his wife and sending his children to Catholic school. While he grew up exploring various churches and denominations, he found a community that he could finally call home. On Holy Saturday, the night before Easter, he was confirmed into the Catholic Church, marking a significant moment in his spiritual journey.
Thomas is reunited in heaven with his mother, Cindy Muriel Thornton, his paternal and maternal grandparents and his dog Casey. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his father, Jeffrey Nannen, his sister, Sara Whitten, and his brother, Joseph Nannen. He will be deeply missed by his aunt, cousins, mother and father-in-law, three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers who were fortunate enough to know him.
Thomas Michael Nannen's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
