Thomas Chatelain Napier, Sr.

Thomas Chatelain Napier, Sr., age 73, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly J. Napier and Thomas Shive Napier; and his daughters, Iris and Daisy.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah T. Napier; his sons, Thomas C. Napier, Jr. (Rebecca), and Matthew M. Napier (Emily); his grandchildren, Madeline Napier, Alex Holbert, Lauren Napier, Abigail Napier, Hailey Clayton, and Michael Clayton; and other relatives, Carol Damato, Richard Angel, Karen Robertson, and Pam Fogg.

Thomas was a native and resident of Gulfport, MS, he attended Gulfport East High School, Class of ’68, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College-Perkinston. He was also in the US Army SP4 Aviation Brigade Vietnam 1971 where he was an air traffic control radar controller. He also worked for Bellsouth/AT&T and retired from there in 2003 but continued to work, most recently at Branch Electric. He was the recipient of the “World’s Greatest Dad” mug in 1985.

Thomas had lots of hobbies and interests including fishing, hunting, genealogy, gaming, knife and gun collecting, youth baseball coaching, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was very involved within the community spending time with Pioneers (Bellsouth), Vietnam Veterans of America (1150), Gulfport Jaycees, and St. James Catholic Church.

Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters-in-laws, grandchildren and his dog, Bosco.
