Thomas "Tom" Neely of East Claridon, Ohio, peacefully and gracefully entered into the arms of God and his parents on July 22, 2025, at the David Simpson Hospice House. He was 66 years old.

Tom is survived by a beautiful family who loved him immensely. Tom was a father, brother, uncle, son, cousin, beloved friend and companion. The most meaningful "hat" (pun intended) Tom wore, however, was that of "Papa" to the lights of his life, grandchildren Ella and Jackson Cahill, who absolutely adored him and will miss him beyond measure.

Tom was born in Painesville, Ohio to parents William and Janice Neely. He was a graduate of Berkshire High School where he played football, wrestled, and ran track. Tom was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served as a Hawk Fire Control Crewman. Tom also worked for several years as a Heavy Machinery Operator at Best Sand.

Tom loved hunting, drag racing, John Wayne movies, dogs, and driving his truck or riding his motorcycle on sunny days. Most of the time you would find him stirring up trouble with his grandkids – cheering on the sidelines at all of their sporting events, letting them attack him with NERF guns, getting fancy makeovers, trying to catch squirrels and ultimately just making their lives full and fun.

For Tom, there was no such thing as a stranger, and he could strike up a conversation, and have a laugh with anyone. Tom lived by kindness – to him, love was an action, not just a word, and you never had to question your place in his heart. In honor of his memory, go forth and spread light into the world, laugh and enjoy each other. Embrace every moment as a blessing and love with action.

Private services were held by the family to honor Tom's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Western Reserve by visiting www.hospicewr.org/Give or the Geauga County Veteran Food Pantry by visiting www.geaugacountyveteranfoodpantry.com.

So very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Tom was a dear childhood friend. Growing up in Claridon, we spent lots of time playing and being kids. Very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I've known Tom for a long time but I haven't seen him in a while. But every time I seen him he gave me a big hug. I would go past his house a lot and think of him. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

My condolences to everyone. My cousin was such a treat whenever I had the pleasure to see him. His smile was contagious and echoing his love for family was spot on. I´ll miss my days seeing him hunt turkey or helping him set up a blind out at his hunting grounds where I hunt as well. I will definitely be talking to him in the woods. Telling him how much he made a difference in peoples lives. A respectable human being to all that had the opportunity to meet him. Much love to the family and prayers.
