Thomas W. Neering, 81, passed away suddenly, June 27, 2023 in Bay City, Michigan. Thomas was born on August 1, 1941 to parents Joseph and Stella (Adamkiewicz) Neering. He met his best friend and love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Stefaniak, while skating at the McGregor School ice rink. They were married nearly 62 years ago on July 8 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Tom was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish - St. Hyacinth Church, he was also a devoted employee of General Motors for 30 years before retiring.
Tom was a man of different passions, but his love for classic cars was remarkable. He loved the iconic 1958 Chevy models and spent years tinkering with them. He was also a true outdoorsman and lover of nature. Tom loved hunting, fishing and time tending to his beautiful flowers in the yard. Most of all, time with family was most special. Tom found a lot of joy over the last 10 years with his sidekick, Haydin. Haydin was his great-grandpa's best friend.
Tom was survived by loving wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Neering; children: Debra (Scott) Hunter, Thomas "Tom" (Cindy) Neering, Jr., Timothy Neering; grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Ward, Nicholas Hunter, Joel Miller (Nicole Werth), Courtney Neering, Kyle (Kathryn Lochinski) Neering; great-grandchildren: Hailee, Haydin, Adeline, Aiden, Noah, Hudson; sister, Virginia Droptiny, sister-in-law, Leona (David) Huggard, brother-in-law, Ken Katt; special and close nephew, David and Debbie Gatza and many other beloved nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Stella Neering; mother-in-law, Alma (Leon) Banaszak; siblings: Dorothy (Art) Gatza, Joseph (Elizabeth) Neering, Mary (Ray) Jacobs, James Neering, Edward Neering, and sister-in-law Nancy Katt.
A Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 PM, Friday, July 7, 2023 at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Avenue Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Rick Filary will officiate. Friends and family may gather for visitation Friday, July 7, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. Those considering a memorial donation in their name, may wish to consider Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish or family wishes in care of Elizabeth Neering.
