Thomas Newman Obituary
He was in the Air Force for 6 years stationed in Missouri and then worked for the National Weather Service after obtaining a degree from Washington University. From there, he worked at the National Office of Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) where he received the Bronze and Silver awards. He had a great interest in astronomy, loved his cats, and enjoyed visiting family. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas E. Newman and his mother, Norma C. Opp.
He is survived by his brother, James H. Newman and his husband, Bartel H. Harrison, of Md.; his sister, Carol C. Dugan (Newman) and her husband, Charles E. Dugan, of N.H., and many nieces and nephews.
A service and interment will be held at St. Benedict Monastery, Bristow, Virginia, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family politely requests that donations be made in Thomas' memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralchapel.com.
