Thomas Paul Northrup, 79, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away at his home on Friday, February 20, 2026. He was born on January 3,1947, in Indianapolis, IN to Charles Northrup, Sr. and Wanda (Carrico) Northrup. He was beloved Husband of Jeanine Mary Sukis, a loving brother, "Big Bro" to Charlie, Mike, Bruce, Bobbi and Scott (deceased), and a special uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Tom was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam war from 1966 -1969. After being wounded in the war and being partially disabled, he dedicated his life helping other disabled veterans receive resources from the Veterans Benefit Administration. He worked tirelessly advocating for health care, housing, and education.
Tom loved to travel with his wife making many trips to Mexico, Hawaii, and California, His passion for lost treasures led him on several trips to Big Bend National Park in Texas and the Superstitions Mountains in Arizona looking for the Lost Dutchman Mine.
Tom loved the desert Southwest landscape and spent most of his life in New Mexico after leaving the Midwest. Gardening was a special interest for him. Tomatoes were his specialty - he is now dancing across the skies sprinkling his tomato seedlings.
Loving to spend time with his family, Tom organized a family reunion each summer. His family cherishes those memories and are forever grateful to him.
Special thanks to VA Hospital in Albuquerque especially Dr. Merin and Dr. Dragic. Forever grateful to the special care given to Tom during his last days from Dr. Caruso, Erika, Gloria, and Sara from Bosque Trails Hospice.
