Thomas O'Connor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Feb. 23, 2026.
Thomas Daniel O'Connor - Salem, NH
Thomas Daniel O'Connor, 92, of Salem, NH, formerly of Winchester, MA and born in Somerville, MA, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
A proud United States Army Veteran and respected contractor, Mr. O'Connor was the founder and owner of O'Connor Brothers, leading the company with integrity and dedication for more than 60 years. He was the devoted husband of 52 years to Susan Jane O'Connor and a loving father to Danny, Mikey, Joanne, Holly, and Charleene. His family was his greatest pride.
A man of deep faith and strong Irish heritage, he was known for his powerful singing voice, especially Irish songs and Frank Sinatra favorites. He lived by the words often spoken by his mother, Bridie Sweeney: "Without faith, you're licked."
He is survived by his sister, Helen Taylor, and was predeceased by his siblings Jackie O'Connor, Eileen Perry, Mary Duffy, Bobby O'Connor, Timmy O'Connor, Betty McNeil, Daniel O'Connor, Catherine Mazzeo, and Karyl Moulton.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at a later date.
He leaves a lasting legacy of faith, family, and hard work.

"Following the Funeral Mass, family and friends are warmly invited to join us for food and drinks in the church hall, as we share memories and celebrate his beautiful life"

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Deepest sympathy to Susan, Holly, Charlene and all the family on the sad passing of Tom. I have so many happy memories spent with Tom during my summers of 1988 and 91 and some visits since that.
