Written by our Dad - Thomas Jack O'Brien
T. Jack O’Brien of Calgary passed away on March 16, 2026 at the age of 98. He is survived by his children Mike (Diane) O’Brien, Susan Morris, Tom (Susannah) O’Brien, Don (Linda) O’Brien, as well as 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. They were all the joy of his life. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Marj O'Brien and Florence McKenzie (nee Scott) and many extended family and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Lorna (nee Scott), his sweet little great granddaughter Ayla, his parents George and Aline O’Brien and his siblings Kay O’Brien, Larry (Mary) and Dale O’Brien
Jack was born in Raymond, Alberta and raised in Kindersley Saskatchewan and Grande Prairie Alberta. He started his career with Taylor & Pierson Automotive Wholesale, going on to Shell Service Station business in Edmonton and Canadian Leisure Travel in Calgary, working with his two brothers until their retirement in 1989. Lorna and Jack travelled extensively during his time with Canadian Leisure Travel.
Jack loved sports, baseball, football, hockey, curling and his favorite, golf. He and Lorna were snowbirds for 12 years enjoying the warmth of Arizona. Jack was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved going to the temple with Lorna and they served a family history mission in Salt Lake City 2000/2001.
Postscript: We the family are grateful for dad's quiet life of honesty and integrity. We will miss him dearly.
