Thomas Patrick O’Rourke passed away peacefully February, 13, at the age of 95.
Tom was the beloved husband of the late Alice (Van Meter) and the devoted father of his two daughters, Shannon O’Rourke of Los Angeles and Barrie (Vince) Ciulla of Denver. He was immensely proud and supportive of his grandchildren, Sophie and Jack Ciulla, both of Denver. Tom was born in Denver in 1930 to the late Dr. Donald H. and Elease (Fee) O’Rourke. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald and his sisters, Patricia Monaghan and Sheila O’Rourke. After graduating from Denver’s Regis University in 1954, Tom began his long career in banking with an entry position at the First National Bank of Denver, now Wells Fargo bank. In 1992, Tom retired from the United Banks of Colorado after serving as Chairman of the Board for the bank’s Southern Region Division, which encompasses several banks in Pueblo and Colorado Springs. Earlier, he served as president and in senior management roles at numerous UBC banks within the Denver area. Tom was grateful to be of service to his community through his service commitments to the Ability Connection of Colorado, formerly United Cerebral Palsy of Colorado, and as a former trustee of Saint Joseph’s Hospital. He was also a former president and long-term member of the Denver Country Club. An avid squash player, Tom held national ranking in the 70 and over age category for several years running. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 27 at Mother of God Catholic Church in Denver. Please contact Horan McConaty for details: 303-745-4418.
