Thomas J. "Tom" Ostberg passed away on November 1, 2025. He was born on November 11, 1962, in Jacksonville, Florida.
His parents, Joan (Daniel) & Robert "Bob" Ostberg, raised him mainly in Ft. Lauderdale, but they also lived in Chicago, IL and Memphis, TN, before moving back to the Jacksonville/Orange Park area. Tom was a butcher by trade and worked for Publix Supermarkets for over 25 years in various stores as a meat cutter, meat department assistant manager & manager, and finally at the Jacksonville Distribution Center as a Meat Quality Specialist.
Tom loved college football and followed the Miami Hurricanes – The U, and the Auburn (AL) Tigers – War Eagle! Football season was his favorite time of year, and the TV was always "on" on Saturdays & Sundays. He enjoyed boating & fishing and would shrimp on the St. John's River near Doctor's Inlet.
He is predeceased by his father Robert "Bob" Ostberg, his grandparents, Louis & Eleanor Daniel, and Arthur & Norma Ostberg, and his beloved dog, Oakley.
He leaves behind his loving mother Joan, his girlfriend Dawn Lunt, his sister Jill (Greg) Kebe, and his son Lee (Jenny) Ostberg. Tom adored his nephew and niece, Mason and Delaney Kebe. Tom also leaves behind his Aunt Judy, Aunt Jean, Uncle Andy, and many cousins.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest with his grandparents at H. Warren Smith Memorial Cemetery at Jacksonville Beach at a later date.
