Thomas Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home, Inc. - Portsmouth on Jan. 28, 2026.
Thomas Wayne Perry, 68, of Lucasville, a longtime West Portsmouth resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. Tom was born in Portsmouth on October 15, 1957, a son of the late Walter Eugene and Helen Louise McMaster Perry.

Tom concluded his career as the Line Crew Supervisor at AEP, following 37 years of dedicated service. A graduate of Portsmouth West High School in 1975, he actively contributed to youth sports within the community. Tom coached Little League Baseball for over 15 years and served as a youth basketball coach. He also spent 11 years assisting with high school and pee-wee football chain gangs. In retirement, Tom enjoyed time with his grandchildren, watching OSU football games, and participating in family recreational activities such as riding side-by-sides.

He served with the Marine Corps from 1977 to 1981, separating as a sergeant. Tom was awarded the Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Pistol Expert Badge, and the Meritorious Mast for exceptional performance.

On March 11, 1978, he married Lynn Buckley Perry in West Portsmouth, and the couple was blessed with three sons and their families. In addition to his beloved Lynn, surviving are his boys, "TJ" Thomas Justin (Becky) Perry of Troy, Chad Curtis (Larin) Perry of Lucasville, and Major Travis Ryan (Emily) Perry of Tipp City; his brother, Pat Perry of Sciotoville; two sisters, Linda Pendleton of Portsmouth and Connie Bice of Columbus; and seven grandchildren, Isaac "Ike", Rigley, Kamri, Kolt, Mila, Sloane and Bennett Perry.

Tom was also preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Bashford, Susie Pick Montieth, and Sally Castle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Mark Seevers officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. The James Dickey Post American Legion Honor Guard will provide Military Rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 PM and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201-25th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.

The flag of the U.S Marine Corps will fly at the funeral home in honor of Sgt. Perry's service to our country.
