Thomas Politz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Great Crossing Funeral & Cremation on Feb. 27, 2026.
Thomas Charles Hezekiah Politz, 52, of Paris, Kentucky, died Monday, February 23. 2026 at
the University of Kentucky Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was supported by
friends who were with him, who cared for and loved him. He was born November 22,
1973, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Charles Politz and Paulette Vickers. He is survived by a
son and a daughter, by a sister, Paulette Angel Cook Politz, cousins Barbara Maybrier,
Timothy Maybrier, Michael Maybrier, Florence Maybrier, Ruth Maybrier and Lester
Turner.

Tommy was familiar to many in the community. He often rode his bike or walked through
the town making friends and acquaintances with his ability to engage people and
befriend them. Those who knew him and loved him will miss his presence in the
community and the church where he was a member.

Thomas became a baptized member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),
joining in worship and participating in the Living Nativity at Christmastime. He was
grateful for the assistance he received in the community and would give back to help
others when he could. Thomas often visited those in local businesses who opened their
doors to him and rested there enjoying friendship and conversation. Tommy lived his life
his way, acknowledging that "you have to be smart to survive being homeless." At the
time of his death, he was blessed to have a place to call home.

Thomas was creative and resourceful often repurposing items others no longer found of
value. He had a perceptive sense of humor and had an engaging laugh. He would often
end his conversations by saying, "God bless you."

While we grieve his loss, we rejoice that God will "make all things new again," for him.
There will be a memorial service March 12th, at 11 am in the sanctuary of First Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) at 911 High Street, Paris, led by the Reverend Judi Ring
and the Reverend Jeff Bell. A meal will be served following the service in the fellowship
hall of the church. Everyone is invited and welcome to join us in remembrance and
celebration of Tommy's life.

Contributions to fund his final arrangements may be made to First Christian Church, 911
High Street, Paris, Kentucky, 40361. Funds received that exceed the cost of funeral
services, will be given to Operation Food Basket.
