Thomas Postek

Thomas Stanley Postek, 83, of Chicago, a dedicated financial analyst for over 50 years; passed away peacefully July 16, 2025. Born in Detroit, Michigan, raised in Dearborn, Tom earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Michigan. He became a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board in 1982, held a Chartered Financial Analyst® certification, and was a staff member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). Tom also served as an investment analyst and Partner and Principal at William Blair & Company (1986 to 2004), an independent Non-Executive Director at Distribution Solutions Group, Inc. (2005 to 2019) and an Independent Director at UniFirst Corp (2008 to 2023), and finally as Relationship Manager from CIBC Private Wealth Management (formerly Geneva Advisors). Tom was a quietly altruistic man and an active listener. He was deeply respectful of his mentors and would also gently impart life lessons to those around him. Beloved father of Andrew Alexander (partner Janet Lindsay) Postek. He was an uncle of three nieces: Kathy, Carolyn, and Amy. Preceded in death by parents Stanley Alexander Postek and Josephine Kukulski Postek, brother Lawrence (the late Delphine) Postek, and former spouse Catherine Donnelly Postek.
