Thomas Acie Rasnake, age 87, of
Bland, Virginia, formerly of Richlands, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in a Roanoke, Virginia Veterans hospital following an extended illness.
Acie was born June 17, 1936, in Leemaster, Virginia, and was the son of the late James William Rasnake and Fannie Davis Rasnake. After graduating high school, he served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force where he was trained to be a mechanic. After his discharge, Acie worked as a mechanic for several dealerships in the local area. He took college classes to earn his degree as an electrician and would do electrical repairs and construction. It seemed he was a Jack of all trades, and eventually bought owned, and operated the WYRV radio station. Even in retirement he could not just sit down and enjoy his life, so he worked for many years as an assistant funeral director. Acie's one true love was his family, he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a proud member of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF&AM and had just been presented with his 50-year membership pin. Acie was a proud member of Ivy Springs Baptist Church and was a loyal Trustee of the church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred Campbell Rasnake; siblings, Emma Gay Rasnake Miller, Gladys Faye Rasnake Baldwin, Hazel Marie Rasnake, Delores Rasnake, and Ernest Junior Rasnake.
Those remaining to carry on his loving spirit are:
