Thomas Joseph "Tom" Restivo

Thomas Joseph Restivo was born on January 31, 1939 in Newark, NJ and passed on July 31, 2025 in Melbourne, FL . He was a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ receiving a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. For over 27 years, he was employed as an Engineer at Grumman Aerospace Corporation in Long Island, NY. The project he was most proud of was the Apollo 11 Grumman LEM and to be a part of the first landing and walk on the moon. A document containing the names of all who worked on the Apollo 11 mission was left there that historic day. He met my mom while working as an intern during college at Westinghouse. The story he told was he would see a gorgeous pair of legs go by from his cube and proclaimed "I gotta meet that girl!". Those legs belonged to Marge, his loving wife of 57 years. He loved to dance; mom and dad would light up the dance floor whenever they had a chance. Tom enjoyed gambling, craps and poker, and even taught his three granddaughters how to play. He often spoke of how special growing up in Newark, NJ was, in a house on Littleton Ave and Norman Road with his aunts, uncles and cousins living in the same house or within the block. He also spoke of his cherished childhood friends John Delaney, Jerry Solla, and Pete Martakius often. He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Mildred and his parents Anthony and Antoniette Restivo. Tom is survived by his sons Brett (wife Sandra) and Marc. Tom had three granddaughters Julie Smith (husband Chris), Cathryn Restivo (husband Dylan Barton) and Grace Restivo (fiancé Shane D'Errico), with ten great-grandchildren, multiple nephews and nieces, his former daughter-in-law, Wendy Carrera and three sisters in law, Patty Luberto, Joan Marshall and Ethel Rubulotta. He also was blessed with two bonus granddaughters, Paige Rodriguez (husband Manuel) and Amanda Housman (husband Tyler) and 6 additional great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday August 29, 2025 at 11:00am at Hope Lutheran Church 4541 N Wickham Rd Melbourne, FL. All are invited to enjoy lunch immediately following the service.
