Thomas Rhody Obituary
Born February 19, 1947 to the late Margaret and James Rhody. Beloved and devoted husband to Marjorie Cavalier Rhody for 56 years, their time spent together in Penn Hills and beyond was one of his greatest joys.
Loving father to Kathy (Dan) Scrabis, Michael (Amy) Rhody, and Susan Rhody; cherished grandfather of Maura, Olivia, Nathan, Maggie, Ellie, and Abbie. He is survived by his sister Mary Lou Kaminski and was preceded in death by his siblings, Phil Rhody and Anne Lendl.
A lifelong Pittsburgh resident, Tom was a diehard Pitt fan and season ticket holder for football and basketball for close to 20 years. He was a proud Irishman known for his jovial nature with friends and strangers alike. His bear hugs and twinkling blue eyes will be missed by all.
He proudly served his country as staff sergeant during the Vietnam War, earning a bronze star for his combat action as part of the 1st Infantry Division, known as Big Red One.
Family and friends are welcome Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00–6:00 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. Burial will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 1:30 PM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kane Foundation.. The wonderful staff there took great care of Tom during his last year of life.
