Thomas Rogers Obituary

Thomas G. Rogers, age 48, of the Town of Vienna, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer.

Tom was born in Rome on October 17, 1974, the son of Gilbert and Deborah Warner Rogers, and he graduated from Camden High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Le Moyne College. Tom was currently employed by Burrough as a service delivery executive.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. While in high school, he played football and baseball. His most treasured times were with his daughter, Peighton, attending her gymnastics events and going shopping with her.

Tom is survived by his loving daughter, Peighton Rogers, and her mother, Liesl Schembeck; his parents, Gilbert and Deborah Rogers; his soulmate, Marisa Ciola; his K-9 companion, Oliver; his godparents, Richard and Deborah Warner; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by several aunts, uncles, and his grandparents.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Hemotology Oncology Associates of CNY, and Hospice, for their care and compassion shown to Tom and his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 1 PM at St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Verona Beach. Burial will be in McConnellsville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13143.

From Tom: "I want to sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank each and every one of you that has sent thoughts and prayers, shared kind words and uplifting encouragement, texted me or messaged me to check in (I know I'm not the most timely responder), or even to let me know I'm being thought of. You, all of You have been my people."

I had a Tommy Rogers at Kinder Kollege Nursery School in Rome around that time frame. If this is him I am so sorry for your loss. I remember him as a sweet little boy who was a joy to have in my 4 year old class.
