Thomas Ruane, Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2025.
Thomas Dennis Ruane, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with long-term illness. Born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, Tom was known for his devotion to family, professional achievements, boundless generosity, and a one-of-a-kind spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A proud scholar, Tom graduated first in his class from St. Peter's College (1972) and again from Fordham University School of Law (1975). He rose to partnership at the renowned Robinson, St. John & Wayne firm in Newark, later serving as Chief Legal Officer for Siemens USA. He went on to found WhiteCap Partners, a New Jersey-based investment fund, blending legal expertise with entrepreneurial vision. Tom was a trusted advisor both professionally and personally, and his legacy of integrity, mentorship, and generosity will continue to inspire.

Passionate about golf, Tom enjoyed courses around the world - and the 19th hole with friends and family. He lived for nearly 30 years in Little Silver, New Jersey, before moving to Naples, Florida, where he became an active member of The Vineyards community and proudly served as President of the Homeowners Association.

Above all, Tom cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Ann; children Elizabeth, Christine (Charlie), and Thomas, Jr.; grandchildren Henry, Tommy, Christian, and Charley, who knew him lovingly as "Fox;" and sisters, Ellen and Nancy.

Services to honor his life will be held at 10am on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, New Jersey. Additionally, a celebration of life will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 1pm at The Vineyards Country Club in Naples, FL.

Tom will be remembered for his brilliant intellect, quiet resolve, Irish humor, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of others. His signature one-liners and comedic timing turned ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.

Ann and Family, I was shocked to hear the news about Tom. He was so full of life with his quick wit and humor. He was always very generous with the golf staff at the Vineyards and I´m sure he was the same everywhere. He will be missed. Pat McCullough

What a sad loss for his many friends and the community he served so well. He had a unique and magnetic personality that made him a beloved friend to so many. He could brighten any room with his upbeat and positive personality. The world will be a little darker without him in it. I'll forever miss his big smile and 'hello general' greeting. There will only ever be one Tom Ruane.

Dear Ann and family,

At a time like this sadly, there are no words. Our deeply heartfelt sadness is with you and the family.
Tom was a unique man with an endearing personality. A man who, if asked for help or advice, was always there for you. A man full of life, fun, endearing to all but especially to his family. His loss will be felt by many but especially by you, whom he adored, the children and grandchildren. May he be resting in the Palm of HIS hand and may GOD BLESS you and watch over you and the family.

Our thoughts and prayers have always/will be with you.

Luv,
Jimmy and Trish Tamuccio

Dear Ann and family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Tom´s passing. I have many fond memories of Tom, during our youthful years. He was definitely a man of honor and was deeply committed to his family and friends. Although I didn´t get to see him often in recent years, he would always make me feel like our friendship had never faded. I will keep you and your family in my Prayers and I hope that you all can find some small measure of comfort in the knowledge that Tom is now Resting in the Arms of Jesus. God Bless you.
