Thomas Michael Schmitt
Age 80, of Park Falls, died on Monday April 15, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 1, 1943, in Milwaukee, the son of William Frank and Evelyn Irene (Myszewski) Schmitt. After graduating from Muskego High School, Thomas served his country in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for the Waukesha Police Department for five years and then was a heavy equipment operator for Sherwin Industries in Milwaukee with the Operating Engineers Local 139 until his retirement. He was a member of the Park Falls American Legion Post, a Life member of the Genesee Depot VFW, life member of AMVETS, a member of the Round Up Riders ATV/UTV Club and the Flambeau Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his life partner Dianna Scherr, (4)sons: Jeffery, Timothy, Brandon, and Torrey Schmitt, his stepchildren: Brenda (Jim), Debbie (Doug), Glenn (Denise), and Bruce, his grandchildren: Christopher, Karmen, and Andrew, (5)step-grandchildren, and (8)step-great-grandchildren, (6)siblings: Betty, Dorothy, Bill, Roger, Christine, and Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy.
A memorial service will be held at the Park Falls American Legion Hall on Monday April 22, 2024, at 11:00am. Deacon Chet Ball will officiate.
A visitation will be held at the Park Falls American Legion Hall on Monday from 10:00am until the hour of the service.
Interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove on Monday April 29, 2024, at 2:00pm.
