Thomas Scrivens Obituary

Thomas Scrivens

Canterbury , NH - Thomas Russell Scrivens, 62, died on Monday, May 20, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Tom lived in Canterbury for 37 years in a home he designed to fit his needs after a work related accident that left him paralyzed. He was a talented mechanic and could fix anything. He plowed his own driveway, mowed his own lawn and stacked his own wood. He was fiercely independent. For many years he consistently worked out at the gym rarely missing the free pizza day. He loved animals especially dogs and birds. He attended every Nascar Race in Loudon and looked forward to Laconia Bike week every year. He raced motocross himself when he was younger.

Tom is survived by a sister and her husband Jan and David Archambault, a brother James Scrivens and his partner Nancy Hyde, several nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and life long friends. He was predeceased by his father Alvan Scrivens and his mother Alice Scrivens Messier.

Thank you Dr. Mary Kate Hattan and the staff at Concord Family Medicine, the Town of Canterbury and the entire staff at Bayada Hospice.

A very special thank you to Walter Lovely and Laurie Lockwood for their kindness and support that helped fulfill Tom's wishes to remain in his own home.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 1030am at Blossom Hill Cemetary with a celebration of his life immediately following at 70 High Street in Penacook.

In lieu of flowers please reach out and call someone you haven't spoken to in awhile. Forgive someone. All acts of kindness are appreciated.

To the Scrivens Family, It has been many years and I am removed from the area.
My deepest sympathy for the loss of Tom. I have lost touch with most of the east Concord Gang, But really never lost in thought. The Scrivens Family took me in when I lost my way and made me feel like family, I use to go to some of Toms MotoCross races and man was he good. I use to want to ride like him. I knew he lived on your property in Canterbury after his accident. I have driven by a couple of Times never having the nerve to stop and say hi. Boy do I wish i had now.
Anyway time and age catches us all. Tom You are free now and I suspect you can ride the trails with God now.
I am sorry for the lost years.
Deepest sympathies.

Hello, I am the one who bought Tom's Purple 71 Road Runner. I am planning some Mild Upgrades and Restoration Work, but also choosing to leave some of Tom's Personal Touches Intact. Although I am the one driving and enjoying it, I feel that it will always be Tom's Car.

I knew Tom when he was younger, when he lived in east concord. He was a beautiful person , very smart , with a big heart. He will be missed by all who loved him. Till we meet again, my friend. God Bless you.
