Thomas "Tom" Shankin

Thomas "Tom" Shankin, of Warren, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the age of 71. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Edward and Helen Shankin. Dearest father of Tommy Shankin, Matt Shankin, Julie Destefano, and Jason Thomas. Loving grandfather of Jenna Destefano, Joel Gonzales, Ty Thomas, Dezzi Thomas, and great grandfather of 3. Dear brother of Ed (Peggy), Mike (Cindy), Don, Bob (Melissa), Jim (Connie), Paul (the late Sherri), and Maryann (Kevin) Conte. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Tom is remembered as a hard-working man who loved his family and cherished the time spent raising his children. In his free time, Tom loved watching sports, especially the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and UofM Football and Basketball. For all of those who knew Tom, they knew that under that imposing beard of his, was a kind heart and a gentle soul who would do anything for the ones he loved; though his passing brings us sorrow and sadness, undoubtedly those who had the privilege to meet him are truly grateful.
Visitation Monday 2-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren. Instate Tuesday 9 a.m. until a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families Parish, 25252 Van Dyke (North of 10 Mile Road) Center Line. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
