Thomas Melvin Smith, born on August 9, 1969, in Washington, D.C., to Barbara Ann Earle and Thomas Melvin Pitts, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at Genesis Nursing Facility in Waldorf, Maryland. He was 56 years old.

Thomas faced many health challenges over the years, yet he carried himself with strength, humor, and an uplifting spirit. He was known for always having a smile on his face and a joke ready to share with anyone he met. His carefree nature and positive energy touched everyone around him, making him a beacon of joy in the lives of family and friends.

Thomas loved watching football and basketball, often engaging in playful trash talk with his brother and uncle during games. He enjoyed good food, hearty laughter, and cherished every moment spent with loved ones. Wherever Thomas went, he brought warmth and happiness, leaving behind memories that will forever bring smiles to those who knew him.

He is survived by his only brother, Charles Walter Smith Jr.; his uncle, Michael Earle; and his son, Thomas Johnson. Thomas now joins his parents and his nephew in Heaven, where his soul is free and at peace.
