With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved daddy, who went home to be with the Lord at the age of 85, just shy of his 86th birthday.

He lived a simple, honest life—one grounded in faith, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He loved the Lord with his whole heart and always put family first. Through both his words and his example, he taught us the value of hard work, the importance of love, and the meaning of true commitment. His life was not loud or showy, but it was steady, faithful, and deeply impactful to all who knew him.

He was a man of quiet strength, dependable character, and deep integrity. To his family, he was a constant—someone we could always count on, learn from, and lean into. His love was shown not just in what he said, but in how he lived every single day.

Saying goodbye is incredibly hard. We now face the bittersweet reality of learning how to live without him here on earth. Yet even in our grief, we are comforted by the peace of knowing this is not goodbye forever. Because he knew Jesus, we rejoice in the promise that we will see him again in heaven. That hope carries us through the sorrow and fills our hearts with gratitude.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin and Verdie Smothers; three sisters; Gloria Smothers Willis, Thelma Gae Edmond and Brenda Marie Jackson; and four brothers, William F. Smothers, Jr., James Arthur Smothers, Carl Byerly Smothers and Henry Pervis Smothers.

He leaves behind a family who will carry his legacy of faith, love, and devotion for generations to come by his four children: Renee Walter (Michael) of Simpsonville, Ann Morton (Brent) of Taylors, Christie Jordan of Greenville and Roger Smothers of Greenville, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

In loving memory of Thomas, whose spirit touched the lives of many, we invite family and friends to celebrate his memory through a heartfelt Tribute Tune entitled "Steady Like You."
