Mr. Spears was a native of Reeves, LA, was raised his younger years in Hackberry and Carlyss and his preteen and teenage years in Kinder and Ragley. He worked his younger years as a Boilermaker and Welder throughout local refineries. He then pursued his interest in tree service during which time he worked for Aspen Tree Service and Bloom Tree Service. During the late 90’s he purchased a Beekeeper Business from a friend and has successfully continued to run the business as an active Beekeeper. Mr. Spears was always busy! The very morning before he went to the hospital, he loaded logs that he cut to take to his brother-in-law .
He enjoyed downtime and good times as much as he enjoyed working! He always loved to fish and shrimp. He built nearly thirty boats, wood and steel hull, some shrimp, mostly oyster, the largest being a fifty-two-foot steel hull. He was a talented wood worker, built 18th century style four poster beds right down to the wood pegs, made the most beautiful wooden Christmas trees, five Sawmills and built his Plantation Style home from the ground up. Mr. Spears passion was flying, he owned a number of Ultralight Aircraft, several he built himself and with his circle of friends that shared his passion. He also loved travelling in his later years with his family and his companion, Ms. Kay.
Mr. Spears was genuinely humble and kind, with a genuine love of life, family and friends. He will be remembered for his wisdom and guidance, his keeping trusted conversations private, his love and devotion to his family and his pride in adoring his grandchildren.
He leaves to honor his memory, his beloved blessing, companion, Karla “Kay” Bolenbaucher Spears of Merryville; five children: Emily Perkins and companion Martin Segura, Steven Spears, Virginia Henry and wife Anna, Jason Spears and wife Brandy, Amanda Spears and companion William Pierce; son-in-law, Patrick Perkins; nine grandchildren, Erica, Jessica, Bre, Samanatha, Kam, James, Dagan, Lydia and Kay Kay; eighteen great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild on the way; two brothers, Raymond Spears and Mervin Spears and three sisters, Gladys Franks and husband Steven, Mary Taylor and husband Timmy and Evelyn Navarre. He also leaves his fur baby dog, Odie.
