Thomas Paul Thompson, 73, of Wooster and formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at the Wayne County Care Center after a brief period of declining health.
Tom was born on Dec. 13, 1952, in Lodi to Richard “Dick” and Mildred Jean (Hull) Thompson and was a 1971 graduate of Waynedale High School. On March 30, 1974, he married Valerie Jean Maibach and Val preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2024. Tom operated Tom-Val Holstein Farm and later operated his own business. He was a member of Blachleyville Church of Christ. Tom enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians and politics. He loved going on drives around the area but he most enjoyed watching his grandkids playing sports.
Surviving are his 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Dan Lunsford of Mansfield, Traci and Clint Carmony of Wooster and Kelly and Steve Smith of Ashland; grandchildren, Olivia Lunsford, Alex Carmony, Logan, Morgan and Ethan Smith; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Sue Hapner of Texas, John and Darlene Thompson of Wooster, Judy and Mike Rockwell of Indiana, Tim and Kathy Thompson of Lima, Dick Thompon of Minnesota, Dave and Liz Thompson of Celina and Math and Angel Thompson of South Carolina; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jim Thompson of Wooster and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rudy and Barb Maibach and Brian Maibach and Shauna Ruggles of Creston and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Val, grandsons, Jacob Carmony and Dylan Smith; his parents and brothers, Ronald and Joseph.
Services will be Friday, Jan 9th at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Dan Kirtlan officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Church Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blachleyville Church of Christ, 8482 Blachleyville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
