Thomas “Tom” Alan Flick, 68 of Tifton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, after a difficult battle with cancer at Southwell Medical Center in Adel, Georgia. Tom was born on March 14, 1956, in Bristol, Virginia as the third child of his parents, Faye V. Flick and the late Bob B. Flick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Main Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Tifton with Jason Womack officiating and Steve Gray delivering the eulogy. The interment will follow the service at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Andre Stembridge, Russ Dunaway, Mark Buzzell, Keith Statzer, Steve Suggs and Bill Reinhardt. Honorary pallbearers will be Zack Bullard, Zeke Dodson, Robert Tyler, Will Reinhardt, Taylor Walls, Blake Suggs, Joseph Spinks, Joseph Watson, Austin Haskins, Stewart Tyler, Jack Bell, Rob Tyler, Mark Walker, Butch Walker, Chuck Daugherty, James Herring, Johnny Purgura, Eric Gainious, Michael Spinks, Steve Gray, Ed Bullard, Lawton Bassett, Stacy Lassiter and Kris Story.
Tom grew up in East Tennessee, where he lived until the age of thirty. He was a man of many talents and passions. He was a talented musician and athlete. His love of golf and his musical gifts propelled him to Tennessee Tech University on a dual scholarship. He later also studied accounting and business at East Tennessee State University. Due to his love for golf, he achieved the status of a professional golfer and teacher. He traveled throughout the country playing on the Hogan Tour and other competitive golf events. He never missed an opportunity to praise God with his voice so he would also travel throughout the southeast singing and directing Christian music. Tom was blessed with many opportunities during his life. He chose to serve as the minister of music at First Baptist Church of Perry and later at First Methodist Church of Tifton. His skills weren't limited to just sports and singing; he was also recognized for his landscaping abilities.
Tom loved all sports, and especially the Tennessee Volunteers, but his favorite job of all was during the time he coached the Titans All Stars baseball team that his son Rob played with. Tom was known to be a big supporter of his children in all their endeavors. In his journey through life, Tom touched the hearts of many and left a lasting impact. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Along with his mother, Faye Vance Flick of Bristol, Tennessee Tom is survived by his daughter, Bradee Catherine Flick of Dublin; his son, Robert Walker Flick of Tifton; his brother, Ronald Vance Flick of Amelia Island, FL.; his two sisters, Bobbie Suzanne Flick of Bristol, TN., and Jan Leja of Dandridge, TN.; as well as the Mother of his son and caretaker, Jill Walker Flick of Tifton.
